Their well known hit single, “How You Remind Me” went to the top of the Canadian Singles Char, as well as the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. Nickelback is recognized as the 3rd Canadian band to have achieved this.
Since their 2001 smash hit [How You Remind Me], Nickelback has been met with success. The group has sold more than 14 million albums in the U. S. and around 2 million in Canada. Globally, the band has sold around 25 million records.

Success Along with Allegations:
A meme appeared on the Internet in 2003 that was called the “How You Remind Me of Someday” or “Nickelback to Back”. It illustrated the similarities between certain sonmgs that Nickelback produced. Responding to these allegations, Mike Kroeger in a press conference said, “I think that’s remarkable for someone to notice that there is a hit quality. If all hits sound the same, then sorry. When you are a band that has a distinct style such as us or AC/DC, that happens. When you have a distinct style, you run the risk of sounding similar.”
Nickelback had stopped in the middle of a song at the Ilha do Ermal festival in Portugal [August 19 2002]. The band walked off stage as a response to rocks being hurled on the stage. Singer, Chad Kroeger, was also sprayed with a bottle of water during that song. When Kroeger confronted the crowd, he was answered with a rock that struck him at the back of his head.
Despite the bad behavior of the crowd at the Portugal festival, Nickelback has had tremendous success. The band’s music has appealed to listeners of hard rock, pop, alternative and even metal, and many younger bands are influenced by their music. Many major bands have also appreciated Nickelback as a music force in the industry. Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, as well as Vinnie Paul and late Dimebag Darrell Abbott, ex-Pantera members, have embraced Nickelback.
Nickelback has plans to come back on the scene, and have a schedule to produce an album due in November/December 2007.
