Form & Structure to do with the Zebra Mussel
The zebra muscle is a smaller freshwater species of muscle. They get their name from the stripped pattern which commonly adorns their shells, thought not all members of the types will bare these marks. They usually measure the size on the average mussel to be the length of the ordinary human fingernail but can grow to a optimum size of almost three inches. Safely contained within their D shaped shells, zebra muscles possess ’strings’ or byssal threads that emerge from their umbo for the dorsal side.
